Arcadia is located in Phoenix, Arizona, south of Paradise Valley and to the west of Old Town Scottsdale. It is just between 40th and 68th Street from Camelback Mountain south to Thomas Road.

History of Arcadia
While Arcadia is not considered a historic district within Phoenix, the area does have a rich history beginning all the way back in 1919. The subdivision emerged from the development of the Salt River Reclamation project. During the project, residents in the area were urged to grow lawns and plant citrus trees to add value to the property. The result? A lush green oasis with Camelback Mountain sights for all residents.
HUGE Homes in Arcadia
It’s no surprise that Arcadia’s luxury real estate has held strong and consistently increased throughout the years. The market is top-rated among young families, millenials, and investors. The Vig is a popular restaurant and tavern that is known for its laid-back feel and hip ambience. The menu highlights include the “Vigazz Burger” for a spicy twist on a classic and more adventurous plates like Carne Asada atop a potato pancake.
After the restaurants are the resorts a plenty! Resorts first started popping up in Arcadia in the 1930s. The Royal Palms Resort and Spa is one of many and is located at the base of Camelback Mountain. It features a luxury Spanish Colonial style decor and over 65 acres of land. The resort serves world-class cuisine, relaxing spa services, a nearby golf course, and gorgeous desert views. Other close-by resorts include the luxury Phoenician in Scottsdale and the Scottsdale Camelback Resort.

Camelback Mountain Views
Arcadia is highly desired because of its close proximity to Camelback Mountain. As one of the nation’s top hiking destinations, Camelback Mountain attracts visitors from around the world. It’s trailheads are close to Arcadia and range from easy to extremely difficult. The summit sits at 2,704 feet above sea level and shows off a view of the Valley. At one point in time, Arcadia was deemed “the oasis at the foot of Camelback Mountain.”
Fourth of July Festival
As one of the few neighborhoods that hosts a Fourth of July party, Arcadia strikes it big with its more than two-decade old celebration. The parade began in 1996 when Johanna Boslin planted flags in her neighbors yard and the neighbor, Bud Katz stated, “The flags look so beautiful, flapping in the breeze. Now all we need is a parade.” From there on the tradition of a parade began! The event features pie eating contests, classic cars, activities, and more. The family-friendly affair takes place each year on July 4th and continues its tradition of decking out in red, white, and blue to celebrate America’s Independence Day.
